Giving back

At Global Partners, we give back to the communities where we live and work, because for us, good business, means being a good neighbor. Our charitable mission is to keep our communities growing, moving, and thriving. We accomplish this through our robust corporate giving programs, volunteering, and charitable efforts though our company-sponsored nonprofit, The Global for Good Fund.

Our pillars of support

Growing

We empower youth and educational programming through our direct support of schools, youth sports, and nonprofits focused on championing young people. Over the years we've accomplished this through our:

  • Bi-annual carwash for schools fundraising campaigns.
  • Annual participation in ExxonMobil’s Educational Alliance, where we support over 300 schools with $500 donations for STEM programming.
  • National partnership with the Boys & Girls Clubs of America and our Fuel the Future competition, where we challenge young people in our communities to design the convenience stores of the future.

Moving

We energize our communities by serving as the transportation and fuel partner for nonprofits delivering critical services. For us, yes, fuel means gas in the car. But it also means heating oil to keep homes warm and delicious food to nourish our neighbors.

  • We are transportation partners for nonprofits throughout our footprint. We're proud to support all nonprofits by discounting their fuel costs by up to 30 cents a gallon with our Nonprofit Fleet Card. Additionally, in 2024 alone, we donated all the fuel for the Greater Boston Food Bank’s deliveries.
  • We're helping to fight food insecurity through our perishable food partnerships. By donating unused food products from our retail stores, we've helped provide nearly half a million meals since 2019. We also love donating fresh food to nonprofits to energize their volunteers, celebrate milestones, and help with community events.
  • We've been keeping families warm since the Great Depression. This 90+ year commitment to our community is reaffirmed with our annual home heating oil donations across the Northeast. Through partnerships with local housing authorities and nonprofits who serve low-income families, we keep thousands of households warm each winter. This commitment was highlighted in 2022 with our record $2 million donation.

Thriving

We support medical research and numerous community enrichment initiatives to help our neighbors flourish. Our longstanding commitment to supporting medical research was inspired by the Slifka family’s personal connection to cystic fibrosis and multiple sclerosis.

  • Since 2012, our company-sponsored nonprofit, the Global for Good Fund, has donated a combined $10 Million to support medical research to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Boston Children's Hospital, and Cure Rare Diseases.
  • We also have a strong commitment to supporting our veterans. Each year we raise critical funds for veteran nonprofit organizations through multiple fundraising campaigns.

Global for Good

Established in 2009 as the CF and MS Fund, our company-sponsored nonprofit became the Global for Good Fund at the end of 2022 to encompass and support our expanded charitable mission. Through multiple fundraising events and campaigns throughout the year, the Global for Good Fund has continued this legacy of support for our valued nonprofit partners. In collaboration with our employees, executive leadership, and business partners, we are proud to have donated over $12 million.

Charitable recognition

We are honored to be recognized as one of the top corporate supporters of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, National MS Society, the Children’s Trust, and the Genesis Foundation for Children. In 2024, Global Partners was recognized as the 42nd most charitable company in the state of Massachusetts by the Boston Business Journal.

Safely serving our communities

In addition to giving back to our communities, we're also deeply committed to the safe receipt, storage, and distribution of products. That’s the business we’re in, and success means protecting our employees, our communities, and the environment. You can learn about our practices and permitting on our Terminals in Your Community page.
