Celebrating the Backbone of Our Supply Chain: Driver Appreciation at Port Everglades and Beyond

Every September, during National Truck Driver Appreciation Week, the nation takes a moment to recognize the hardworking men and women who keep our economy, and our everyday lives, moving. With more than 3.6 million professional truck drivers delivering freight safely and on time across the country, the annual weeklong celebration in mid-September reminds us all just how essential drivers are to the nation’s success.

At Global Partners, we don’t wait for a reason to say, “thank you”, but we certainly take the opportunity to go the extra mile during this important time.

This year, our Port Everglades, FL terminal joined forces with our teams in Tampa, FL, Bainbridge, GA, and Doraville, GA to host our Southeast Complex Driver Appreciation Day. More than just a celebration, this event is our way of recognizing the dedication, professionalism, and resilience our drivers and contractors bring to the road every day.

At each terminal, team members fired up the grill and served hot dogs, burgers, and a selection of chips, cookies, and drinks, creating a warm, welcoming environment for drivers to unwind, connect, and feel valued. We also handed out Global-branded pads, pens, and card holder pouches as small tokens of appreciation for the big impact our drivers make.

What made the day especially meaningful were the conversations. Each location hosted interactive safety discussions focused on hydration and health on the road, situational awareness, and the importance of not rushing, along with open Q&A sessions for drivers to share feedback and ask questions. These conversations strengthen what makes Global unique: genuine relationships built on respect and trust.

National Truck Driver Appreciation Week is about more than recognition; it’s about acknowledging the reality that truck drivers are the backbone of America’s economy. They deliver the fuel and goods that keep our shelves stocked, hospitals supplied, businesses operating, and families fed. And they do it all while navigating long hours, challenging weather, and high-pressure schedules, often without much fanfare.

This year’s event was particularly meaningful as it marked our first Driver Appreciation Day under the Global Partners name. While we’ve held similar events in the past, this year symbolizes a renewed commitment to putting our people, especially those behind the wheel, at the center of everything we do.

To every driver in our network and across the country, thank you. The care you bring to every mile reflects the same values that drive our business: hard work, dependability, and pride in a job well done.
