Giffen Elementary is the local school that serves the South End community in Albany, not far from where Global’s Albany terminal is located. For years, Global has supported Giffen. We continue that commitment with a $500 donation to their We Are Community Dinner.
Every November for the last 8 years, Giffen has opened its doors for local families to spend the evening with school staff and community members to enjoy a potluck style meal in celebration of Thanksgiving. In a community hit by food insecurity and limited resources, the We Are Community Dinner is important, and Global is pleased to support it.
Global Partners purchased its 63-acre Albany terminal from ExxonMobil in 2007, and has invested in upgrades since — part of our commitment to safety, our South End neighbors and the environment.
The site’s 16 tanks, along with Global’s other terminals, provide Global with the capacity to move enough fuel to help power cars and heat homes in Albany and across the region. Since 2013, the terminal has undergone hundreds of third-party inspections — most unannounced. Those inspections have turned up no substantive violations. Learn more here.
